Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa, known for its vibrant culture and rich history. It is the eighth-largest country in Africa, with a population predominantly consisting of diverse ethnic groups, including the Bambara, Fulani, and Tuareg peoples.
Mali has a long and storied past, once being part of the ancient Mali Empire, one of the largest and most powerful empires in West African history. Today, it is a democratic republic with Bamako as its capital and largest city.
The country's economy is primarily based on agriculture, mining, and fishing, with cotton being a major export crop. Mali is also famous for its music, particularly its traditional griot music and the globally renowned Festival au Désert.
Despite its cultural richness, Mali has faced internal conflicts and security challenges, including a rebellion in the north by Tuareg separatists and the presence of extremist groups. The country has received international support for peacekeeping efforts and development initiatives.
