Tokocrypto CEO: National Stablecoins Will Have A Big Impact On Crypto Markets And Digital Economy

JAKARTA – Indonesian crypto actors welcome the plan to issue digital rupiah supported by Government Securities (SBN) and built on the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) initiated by Bank Indonesia.

Called the “national stablecoin,” Tokocrypto CEO, Calvin Kizana, assessed that the plan will have a major impact on the crypto ecosystem, both in terms of transaction efficiency, market liquidity, and integration between traditional financial systems and digital assets.

He mentioned that this stablecoin will be able to function like USDT (Tether) or USDC (USD Coin) in the global market, namely as a medium of exchange and a stable store of value in trading crypto assets.

With a stablecoin based on the rupiah, users can transact and invest in crypto assets without having to rely on the US dollar. This will boost the growth of local trading volume and strengthen financial sovereignty in the digital realm,” Calvin told VOI.

Calvin also explained that similar steps have been taken in several countries such as Hong Kong, which is developing HKD stablecoins (e-HKD) and Singapore, which launched the ‘Purpose Bound Money’ project.

The models show that national stablecoins can be the foundation for a more inclusive digital economy, as well as encourage the adoption of blockchain technology.

For Indonesia, Calvin sees, the integration of digital rupiah stablecoins into crypto asset exchanges will allow real-time transactions, better exchange rate risk management, as well as increasing access to digital assets for the wider community with regulatory supervision.

“We see that the presence of this national stable coin has great potential to encourage the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia,” added Calvin.

Even in the future, the acceptance of stablecoins as alternative payment instruments will create wide opportunities for MSMEs, startups, and digital platforms to integrate blockchain-based payment services and systems that ensure security and transparency.
